AhlulBayt News Agency: A general strike hits town of Rameh in the Upper Galilee region on Wednesday, following the shooting death of 25-year-old Adham Mukhlis Harb on Tuesday evening, whereas the crime shook the town and brought back to the forefront the issue of escalating violence within the Palestinian community in the 1948 territories.
The town witnessed a complete shutdown of official, educational, and economic facilities. Schools, shops, and public institutions closed in response to a local call for a strike, in a move that represents a protest carried a clear message rejecting the continued bloodshed of crime.
Local activists confirmed that the strike was an expression of solidarity with the victim’s family and a protest against the rampant violence and crime that are repeatedly claiming the lives of young people, amid what residents describe as a state of inaction in confronting the phenomenon.
The one-day shutdown encompassed all public, cultural, and social facilities, reflecting the public’s anger and concern over the ongoing security deterioration within Arab towns in the 1948 territories.
Palestinians inside Israel live in a deteriorating security situation, with rampant organized crime and the proliferation of weapons, amid accusations that Israeli occupation policies contribute to the disintegration of the social fabric and the weakening of the deterrent system, exacerbating societal tensions and fueling the cycle of violence.
